In light of the practical experience gained during its first three years of operation, the Department of Merchant Shipping recently reviewed the Protection of Cyprus Ships Against Acts of Piracy and Other Unlawful Acts Law 2012 (for further information please see "Guidance under anti-piracy law"). As part of its review, the department announced that it would re-examine the list of authorised private ship security contractors and cancel the authorisation of inactive contractors. This process has been completed and a revised list of authorised private ship security contractors has been published on the department's website.
