New legislation for companies that use hazardous substances
entered into force on 8 July 2015. The aim of the new Risks of
Major Accidents Decree (Brzo 2015) is to prevent major
accidents. The new rules implement the Seveso III Directive and
replace the Brzo 1999 rules. The most significant changes are the
new classification and threshold values in hazardous substances.
This can lead to a situation where a company has to comply with the
Brzo 2015 as of 8 July 2015, even though it did not have any
obligations under the previous Brzo 1999 regime, or where the
company becomes subject to a stricter regime than before.
