In the July 2, 2015, Federal Register, FDA announced it is amending the biologics regulations by removing the general safety test ("GST") requirements for biological products. The existing codified GST regulation are duplicative of requirements specified in biologics license applications and are no longer necessary or appropriate to ensure the safety, purity, and potency of licensed biological products. Effective August 3, 2015.
