Canada's Anti-Spam Software Installation Provisions Take Effect

On January 15, 2015, a portion of Canada's anti-spam legislation ("CASL")
related to the installation of computer programs came into force.
The law prohibits companies from installing computer programs on a
laptop, smart phone, or other connected device, even where the
program does not have an improper purpose, absent the express
consent of the device owner or authorized user.
