The Minister of Employment and Social Development established a
new Ministerial Advisory Council on Social Innovation in December
2013. The purpose of the Advisory Council is to work with leaders
in the not-for-profit and private sectors to explore the potential
for social finance initiatives and examine whether there are
barriers to their success. The Advisory Council is staffed by
experts and practitioners in the fields of social finance and
social enterprise.
The Budget confirms the Government's commitment to
innovative solutions to address unmet social and economic needs in
social finance and social enterprise.
