Okan Can

Partner at Deris, Okan regularly counsels and represents market leading companies for the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. After qualifying at Istanbul University, Okan’s progression as a trademark, patent and European patent attorney has seen him develop a reputation as a leading expert. He is known for managing complexity and ambiguity to achieve notable resolutions and results, including the first registration of colour trademark in Turkey.

Fluent in English, Okan advises international organisations on IP strategy and establishes anti-generic programmes. His expertise extends to life sciences, technology licensing, personal data, privacy and the protection of image/celebrity rights.

As a regular guest speaker at IP and trademark seminars, universities, conferences and training programmes, Okan’s legal experience and knowledge in IP litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is highly regarded. He is also a regular speaker at image and celebrity rights programmes, advising sports people, actors and specialist sectors. Okan has contributed to and published an extensive number of articles to publications including the Getting the Deal Through, British Chamber of Commerce, Managing Intellectual Property and the locally known Hurriyet and Radikal Newspaper.

Elif Türkan Dinçer

Elif has joined to Deris in 1999. She graduated from Ankara Anadolu Lisesi (German section) and Ankara University Law School; she is fluent in English and German.

She is a member of Istanbul Bar and a registered trademark and patent attorney and European patent attorney.

Elif works as a senior associate in Deris and is a member of INTA, AIPPI and AIPPI Turkey.

Knowledgeable on all aspects of Intellectual and Industrial Rights Elif is specialized in protection and resolution of disputes on trademarks, designs, copy rights and employee inventions. She is also working on Competition Law, Protection of Personal Data and Breeders Rights. Elif has completed her education on mediation before Istanbul Bilgi University and is qualified to be listed on the Mediators List of Ministry of Justice.

Gizem Küçükarslan Bayer

Senior Associate/Attorney at Law.

Gizem is registered with the Bar Association of Istanbul. Registered before TPI as Trademark and Patent Attorney.  Having completed her undergraduate education at Istanbul Bilgi University's Faculty of Law, Gizem  joined the company in 2010. Her field of experiences are Trademark&Patent, Litigation, Anti Counterfeiting, Anti Piracy. She is a member of INTA as well as the AIPPI National Group of Turkey.

Seda Üngür

Born in 1982. Attorney at Law.

She is registered with the Bar Association of Istanbul. Having graduated from Sankt Georg Austrian College and completed her undergraduate education at Marmara University's Faculty of Law, Seda Üngür joined the company in 2007. She speaks English and German. She is a Registered Turkish Trademark and Patent Attorney, a member of PTMG, INTA as well as the AIPPI National Group of Turkey.

Yaşar Canpolat

Associate, Attorney at Law

Born in 1986, Attorney-at-Law, registered in Istanbul Bar of Attorneys; Trademark Attorney, registered in Turkish Patent Institute; member of AIPPI Turkey (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). Fluent in English.

Mr. Canpolat has joined the firm in 2012 as Associate lawyer, having graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Law Faculty. Currently he pursues his postgraduate at Bilgi University, Cyber Law Programme.

The current responsibilities of Mr. Canpolat are: providing legal opinion to clients on IP-related matters particularly on Trademark Law; conducting trademark application & registration processes before Turkish Patent Institute; conducting trademark clearance searches for trademarks; and preparing memorandums and articles in the field of IT Law, particularly on personal Data Protection law, Data Privacy and E-commerce.


Muazzez Korutürk

Born in 1982. Attorney at Law.

Muazzez is registered with the Bar Association of Istanbul. Having completed her undergraduate education at Gazi University's Faculty of Law and studying Master of Law in Bilgi University in Economy Law, Muazzez Korutürk joined the company in 2012. Her field of experiences is Patent Litigation, Patent Licensing programs besides Trademark and Design Litigation.
