On August 31, Singapore's PDPC
announced that organizations are expected to stop collecting,
using, or disclosing customers' national identification numbers
when not required under law or necessary to verify an
individual's identity to a high degree of fidelity. The PDPC
issued
guidelines to assist organizations on the appropriate use of
national identification numbers and alternative forms of
identification.
